Dusty turned 6 this year, and is starting to show his age. He was a pet store rabbit and likely not the most prime lineage for health and longevity, but we love him all the same.

He really started to slow down this year with signs of arthritis, the vet first tried some supplements, but it got worse. We got X-rays which confirmed some bridging of the spine. So, he’s finally on prescribed meloxicam, along with Myristol and Oxbow joint biscuits.

Today we saw the first full “lay” in probably over a year, now that I think about it. Lately he usually just loafs, but still gets around and eats very well. The next big obstacle is having to clean him pretty regularly because he just can’t reach anymore.

It was only for a few minutes but still so cool to see after worrying so long about how he’d react to the drugs.
