Teddy is deaf :(
| We got Teddy (brown bunny) in May this year, he’s only around 6 months old right now but we’ve recently discovered that he’s deaf. At first I thought it was the typical selective bunny hearing but the more I’ve read up on it and tested it the more sure I am. Teddy gets startled very easily and always follows Lami (grey bunny) around a lot, if she suddenly runs somewhere, he’ll be right behind her. Initially I thought he just really loved being with her but I think it’s a survival mechanism as he doesn’t know if she’s running from danger or not. Additionally, he never hears my calls for dinner or the gate to his area being opened/ closed or me shaking his treat and breakfast jar. He only knows it’s time for any of these foods if he physically sees me or again, Lami suddenly comes running. There have also been times when he’s been sleeping behind doors (his favourite spot) and I’ve been calling him and because he’s asleep he can’t see me so I have to gently stroke him which very much causes him to jump! I’ve been reading up on caring for a dead bunny and really try to make sure we’re accommodating to him but any recommendations or tips on making sure he has the best life possible are all appreciated ????
