Grieving

2 Christmases ago we got my daughter a bunny. She researched everything there was to research. She was 9. I originally bought a very large hutch but was told that was unacceptable. We instead made a huge area for the little guy, with a castle, IKEA doll bed and plenty of enrichment items. I picked him up on Christmas Eve and he was honestly the cutest and most precious bunny.

I work from home and would visit with him all the time. He was one of the best parts of my life. So sweet and so fun. His name was Georgie and I called him every variation imaginable. Outside of my daughter, I was his favorite human.

On Monday night he wasn’t eating. I stayed up until 3 am giving him critical care and checking on him. Tuesday we went to the vet and we were told it was GI Stasis but we caught it early. Went home with 6 meds. Wednesday he was doing so much better. Even eating on his own and being playful. Thursday morning he wasn’t eating. I continued all the treatments and called the vet in the afternoon. They said he should be fine given all the treatments and that he is hydrated etc. in the late afternoon I could tell he was very weak. I called them again and made an emergency appointment. On the way to the vet he passed away while my daughter was petting him and telling him everything will be okay.

The grief has been too much. I’m hurting. I’m devastated. My family is too. We miss him so much.

I just needed somewhere to say this.

Here is a sweet pic of him
