Clematis (11x15 in, 28x38 cm)
![]() | I used Baohong Cold-Pressed paper and Winsor & Newton Professional grade paints. I first masked out the edges of the petals to paint the background more freely, using the wet-on-wet technique for most of it. I simplified the overall composition, as the reference photo had a lot of leaves and flowers in the background. I chose to remove them to give full attention to the two main flowers. I also introduced some yellow to add warmth and break up the green and purple color scheme. The flowers were painted mainly using Quinacridone Magenta (PR122) and Payne’s Gray (PB15, PBk6, PV19). I masked out the stamens as well, so I didn’t have to worry about them while painting the petals. If you have any questions, I’d be happy to answer! ???????????? [link] [comments] |
