17 ways to paint a wooden plank and their colour combos

This first started off as a “let’s figure out this brand of watercolour paper” kinda activity that rapidly turned into some wood plank painting challenge where I was exploring the kinds of browns I could mix vs what single pigment convenience browns could pull off.

On the paper: I think Chitrapat paper is fantastic! 100% cotton paper that’s probably cold press considering the texture. I think it goes toe to toe with some other high end papers for a fraction of the price. If you’ve got access to this paper, count yourself to be v lucky! It’s a very thirsty paper

I was hoping this exercise/ activity would help me figure out if my palette really needed a burnt sienna, burnt umber, and raw umber (So I could swap something out), but they’re all so handy to have around ????????????
