I bought a used sub recently and the guy gave me this oppo BDP-83 special edition blue ray player just because he said he hasn't used it in years and didn't plan to.

When I got home I found that it played dvds fine but not blue rays. Researched a little and it seemed to need a new optical laser lense, which i would have no issue replacing.

I already have a new basic blue ray player so my question is, should I just trash this or spend the $75 or so to fix it myself?

Current set up is a 7.2.4 if that matters at all.
