Anybody Else Using a Computer as their Streamer?
| I ended up just moving away entirely from a standalone streamer (went from WiiM Ultra to Eversolo T8 to this) and using Audirvāna on my MacBook Air M1 with an attached NVMe drive to stream Qobuz and my local library. I attach a CD drive whenever I want to expand the library from my large collection of old CDs. The Audirvāna remote app works well, but I am also able to use my Marantz remote control for track/playback control as well as volume control thanks to a FLIRC USB IR adapter and the remote learning function of my Marantz M1. It is just as easy to use as the standalone streamers. My speakers are MoFi SourcePoint 8 and my subwoofer is a Rythmik L12. A Marantz M1 handles bass management, DIRAC Live room correction (only using it from 12.5-350Hz; my subwoofer is flat to under 12Hz in my room), and amplification. Because DIRAC Live forces 48KHz processing, I use Audirvāna’s r8brain resampler to resample everything to 48KHz/24-bits before transmitting to the Marantz via Toslink. It sounds awesome. ????
