Kef LS50s failing after 3 years?
| I had KEF LS50 Metas in my system for the past three years and was happy with them. The other night, from one record to another, they turned thin and muddy sounding with no soundstage. I initially thought it was my Anthem 225 integrated that I had bought used. I found a good deal on a used Hegel H300 amp on audiomart and spent a few hours driving to pick it up only to find it didn’t fix the problem. After checking everything else I switched out the metas for these vintage KLH 6s and was back in business. Also noticed the Hegel was getting way hotter with the metas. Anyone else have this issue with the metas? Hoping I can return them with the warranty. Also curious to hear opinions on this current setup. I can tell the Hegel is a great amp but imagine most wouldn’t pair with KLH 6s, but they are quite good for being 50 years old (I did buy them from a dealer who had refurbished them).
