So I bought a standing desk to put behind my regular desk..

Been wanting to share my setup since i arranged it this way a few months ago. I haven’t seen a standing desk being used this way so I’m curious to hear what everyone thinks.

The main problem this has solved for me: speaker placement with a triple monitor setup. Without the standing desk, the speakers would either have to be: - placed to the left and right of the monitors (very far apart) - behind the monitors - below the monitors (either limits you to small speakers or the monitors have to be raised unnaturally high) - wall mounted (not an option for me as I’m renting, and wall mounting would limit speaker options by weight)

Since the speakers have their own surface, I’m finally able to maintain close to an equilateral triangle with the speakers and listening position, albeit at a slight elevation.

It also gives me room to put more of my crap in front of me without cluttering my main working surface. Notably I’ve put my 14” CRT in the middle (hooked up to a bunch of different consoles which are to the side).

The main drawback or consideration is that it eats up more depth than a single table would take. The standing desk is 60cm deep, but I’m fortunately able to fit it without a problem.

Monitors: 3x LG IPS monitors i bought over a decade ago and debezeled, still going strong. Keyboard: Model F Labs F77 Pointing device: Microsoft Trackball Optical Computer: Macbook Pro (2021 M1 Pro) Speakers: Diatone DS-100z

Hooked up to the CRT are various devices (PS1, PS2, PS3, Wii, VCR, Raspberry Pi 4). All in a cabinet to the side, out of frame.
