New End Game just arrived.
| Got these second hand for a ridiculously low price and really happy. Out of the box they sounded great but with a bit of bass bleed into the mid range, short and sweet equaliser after... Dear me... These are incredible. Worst bit is the absolute weight on my neck (these are 2016/2017 models so old style headband b) but using them for hours. Hopefully this will help with my neck workouts XD. Anyway, always wanted a pair, I am getting my sundaras fixed and keen on testing them back to back. Comparing to my Meze 99s these need a lot less EQ to sound good (mind you I don't like the EQ profiles that make headphones follow the Harman curve to a T. I like character on my headphones). And the detail and soundstage is very good. Almost feels like actual speakers in my ears. The separation of where sounds are coming from is actually really nice (had a lovely surprise in one of my favourite tracks from "Por Este Rio Acima" where the metal instruments come from the back of my ear). The only thing the Meze 99 seem to do marginally better is wooden instruments. So if you only listen to wooden instruments and nothing else, yeah get the Meze 99s I guess. Anyway, this is likely the last headset of this range I will buy in a long while. It is great to have a benchmark to what high end sound sounds like and it is glorious. I had some bassy tracks on my wake up playlist and was blown away by the crispness and non bleed of the bass post EQ. I am very sensitive to excessive bass reverb and these are insane once tuned to my liking. I also got the pelican case for them which honestly, is worth it on it's own just via the sheer nerdiness and cool factor. [link] [comments] |
