HE1000SE with the Jotunheim. I upgraded from the sennheiser hd558 and a cheap amp/dac. After hearing this setup I dont need to hear anything else. Maybe the susvara sounds better, I have no idea and will probably never know, but I can tell you that this headset makes my hd558 sound closed in and muffled even when I run both of them on the Jotunheim. I would compare these to a high end pair of IEMs except with the benefits and staging of being open back, if that makes any sense. For me its the best of both worlds because I get too hot for closed back headphones these days and I really dont like IEMs from a comfort standpoint. Also, for the gamers out there who are also audiophiles, this headset lets you hear EVERYTHING in the game. The ability to hear where sounds are coming from is unreal. Its like a virtual reality headset for my ears. I dont even have to crank the volume! I can sound whore on reasonable (non harmful) volume levels better than my buddies can with their stuff cranked. Last but not least, you can get these from their official aliexpress store for just over $1500. Thats the best deal in headphones with no exception.
