Who said the Focal Bathys MG was only a light/moderate upgrade over the Bathys?

Just as when I got my first Grado 80x and they were SO GOOD i wanted more, the rabbit hole has made me upgrade Focal Bathys to Bathys MG in less than two weeks. Not getting rid of the Dune Bathys, my girlfriend loves and is keeping them.

The upgrade to the MG is huge. And obviously the main thing is in the name: the driver. I think the original Bathys uses great magnesium/aluminum drivers (same as wired Hadenys/Azuris) but the MG jumps to the exact same, high end, pure magnesium driver found on the legendary Clear MG.

The very light muddiness found on the regular Bathys is just gone. These just rule through mids and mid bass control. There is no single frequency they fail to give strenght and thump in. i EQ’d them for a bright sound, then applied Sound Personalization, and I swear they outperform all my passive open back Grados at EVERYTHING except soundstage (in wired DAC mode). I cannot believe these are closed back, bluetooth, and that the built-in DAC is AMAZING.

Other upgrades from Bathys to MG include build quality, volume control and ANC quality; they all jump from fine to great. The MG is a very expensive headphone, but I’m not sure another wireless all rounder such as this one exists. It simply ticks ALL the boxes. It rules.
