Px8 s2. All day comfort. Tested against the bathys and Px8.
| I have only had these for a couple days but the first impression are really good. Great comfort and I have a rather large head which makes a lot of headphones a tight squeeze. I’m no head fi expert I’m more of a speaker guy. I’m upgrading from air pods after the iems were giving my ears a lot of discomfort. I tested these against the focal bathys. Sound is subjective and I’ve decided I’m going to stick with the Px8. I’m not sure how to describe it. For my listening I found the bathys to be a little too fatiguing. The fit and finish just seems better on the Px8, I liked the thicker pads on the bathys but they did not feel secure on my head at all. Lifting to pause music on the Px8 is also a really nice feature. The anc is good enough for me. Listening to music on a low level I couldn’t hear my coffee grinder this morning. I feel like some eq adjusting could make the bathys better. I just couldn’t find that sweet spot while testing. The highs just seemed to pierce my ears just too much. The sound stage was better on the bathys but the overall feel of the headphones didn’t justify the change for me. I have 2 months to return these Px8 so I’ll give them some more time. So far all day comfort and no fatigue. I haven’t played with the eq much on these. It would also be interesting to see what these may sound like when the Spatial Audio feature comes out. Maybe a gimmick maybe something cool. I also went around and just tried the xm6 and Bose ultra comfort in store. The anc was great but honestly was not that much better for the sound trade off. For the main side by side tests I went with: Time - pink Floyd Money for nothing - dire straits Strawberry letter 23 - the brothers Johnson Alone - Bahamas Outro - m83 Dreams - Wendy lane These are my usual go to for testing speakers and headphones.
