First post here, also first time experiencing Simon Bize.

Picked up a bottle a few weeks ago and popped it last night. Poured one glass and something seemed off. Color was very dark, wine was watery, flat/muted, but bitter and tannic at the same time. I decanted half of it and let it sit for an hour, but nothing changed unfortunately.

Took it back to my shop, tasted them on it and they agreed it was faulty so we swapped it out and here is the fresh one.

I’m still going to let this evolve over the day, but here are my initial thoughts:

Really beautiful wine, although, I wish it was showing a bit more for 2018. A floral bouquet hits your nose immediately. The palate is nice with big time sour cherries hitting you up top. Pretty finish with that bouquet coming back. I’ve read that 2018 was a warmer vintage leading to a lot more concentration. You can see that on this wine. Tannins are higher than I expected, but overall, very happy with this.

Anyone else have any experience with Simon Bize? I’d like to explore more of their wines — Especially the whites. I saw a bottle of their Corton Charlemagne in my neighborhood, but was too far out of my budget.
