Pichon Comtesse dinner
| Fantastic Pichon Comtesse de Lalande dinner in the historic Napoleon Cellar in London Pall Mall last night. The 1982 stole the show, full of life and was just as good as the first time I tasted it at the chateau in 1986! The 1990 was much better than I expected, fresh and easy to drink. The 1996 came from magnums and had an amazing cedary nose. The 2001 and 2005 were different in their own ways but both drinking well and not that far in quality from the 2000 which I’ve been drinking recently at home. The evening started well with Louis Roederer Collection 243 champagne in magnum and Reserve de la Comtesse 2014 - the latter was lovely but perhaps not as opulent as the 2016 and 2018 which I’m more familiar with. A lovely menu and insight from Florent Genty combined with the wines to produce a special evening. [link] [comments] |
