2005 d'Auvenay Auxey-Duresses Macabree

Have always wanted to try Auvenay as some would say it's some of the best white wines in the world.

Caramel popcorn, struck matches, orange marmalade, white blossoms on the nose. The aromatics are insane.

On the palate, honey, a diffused citrus blend of lemons with oranges, some orange marmalade, a bit of cooked fruits, orange peel, crushed rocks, and a hint of baking spices. The honeyed mineral orange peel mix flows into the long finish, which glides down effortlessly. The finish balances out the honey caramel popcorn in the front of the palate so well that it keeps you reaching for the next sip. The wine feels decadent but light at the same time.

As it airs, more of that honeyed marmalade sensation comes out.

One thing that I feel like it's missing is a bit of fruit and fruit intensity, but that might be because of the terroir. Nevertheless, amazing winemaking.
