Blind Judgement: 2019 Vintages
![]() | Blind trade tasting this morning! I was able to nail down all the relative regions except Chateau Margaux, which I mistook for a California wine due to its fresh, ripe fruit and oak character. As for the rest of the wines: Quintessa: known for its long history of organic/biodynamic winemaking practices. 91% Cab Sauv and 60% new French oak. Dark berry fruit and granular, smooth tannins. Great acidity. Ornellaia: Bolgheri blend of 62% Cab Sauv, 31% Merlot, and a dappling of Petite Verdot and Cab Franc. Chalky tannins, earthy, tomato vine, and a jab of VA that improved with time in the glass. This one needs the most time to show itself out of all the wines tasted today. Chateau Mouton-Rothschild: lots of green bell pepper up front that integrated better with time in the glass. Angular, muscular, lots of personality. [link] [comments] |
