Dinner with some friends at a seafood restaurant, we had a long conversation with the somm who happened to have a bottle of DRC Marc de Bourgogne open. He generously offered us a glass to taste free of charge. I was not aware of this wines (brandy) existence, but a more than welcome surprise for sure to finish a lovely evening. Wonderfully complex with notes of caramel, cellar and smokey characters. It has certainly sparked an interest to explore French "marc" further.
