2018 The Hidden Syrah
Wahluke Slope Ruby core, slightly watery rim. Strawberry yogurt on the nose. Lovely, well integrated but still firm tannic structure. This is new world Syrah through and through, assertive and bold, but it has begun to soften and listen to reason. Tart cherry, but somehow also maraschino. Rose bush, both the petal and the stem and a bit of the topsoil. Just a little bit of cured meat. Medium high acidity. Long finish. I’m a sucker for K’s house style, it must be said, but this is excellent. And not so bold as to not pair with food. Went fantastic with tacos and excellent salsa. 94 points. [link] [comments] |
