2021 Esteban Brut Nature
| I saw this at the wine shop and needed to try. This is a 100% sparkling Viognier from Chapoutier. Less than 1g/l dosage and Nose: I actually read a tasting note for this wine that said “smells like a middle eastern pastry shop” and I couldn’t help but smile with each smell because I’ve never smelt a more accurate descriptor. The bread notes here are more baklava and phyllo than brioche. It jumps out of the glass and you know it’s not something you normally drink. Palate: I would say the mousse is maybe lacking a little bit and you can feel the weight of the viognier and typically oily mouth texture. Definite pronounced intensity and long salty finish. While it does have all the typical citrus, pear, I was getting a lot of Melon and unripe peach. Totally worth a shot if you see it out and about. [link] [comments] |
