My first time ever trying a Bandol! Snagged this at auction and have been excited to crack it! This wine is a blend of around 75% mourvèdre, 14% grenache and smaller amounts of cinsault, carignan and syrah (shiraz).

An enticing pale ruby colour. The nose is very aromatic with fruit cake, dried figs, cherry, and olive brine supported by an earthiness with some mushroom and lager.

A light body with some light acidity right out the bottle complimented by very fine chalky tannins which dissipate over the second pour. Immediately getting sour cherries with strawberries and red currants. The secondary earthiness is also present with that great mushroom and cured meat which gives it that classic French savoury feel. Dark red fruits emerge with some air and are persistent through the finish.

This is delicious, I fuck with Bandol, especially this cuvée.
