Pedernales Texas Tempranillo 2021, with chili!
| I’m a native Texan, and I’ve always had an interest in Texan-grown wines. Here, many wineries purchase grapevines from other states and plant them in their vineyards due to the difficulties that come with growing grapes here. I learned that Pedernales Cellars makes wine from grapes that are grown in their own vineyard, so I picked up a bottle of their 2021 tempranillo, made some chili, and poured me a glass. This wine had a garnet color with a vivid ruby rim. I picked up notes of black cherries, peppercorn, and cedar with a hint of flint. With a medium body and a delightfully long finish, I found this wine to be thoroughly enjoyable. It holds up to many of the tempranillos I’ve tasted from Rioja while having unique flinty undertones. $17.89. 91 points. [link] [comments] |
