Tasting Chapoutier Hermitage Blanc, what do you drink from Hermitage?
| Opened a bottle of Chapoutier Hermitage Blanc Chante Alouette 2018 recently and it reminded me why I love Rhône whites so much. Biodynamic Marsanne from the hill of Hermitage: ripe stone fruit and pear on the nose, some honeyed florals and that slightly waxy/oily texture that Marsanne can have. On the palate it’s quite rich but still balanced by fresh acidity, with a touch of almond and something subtly savory/herbal on the finish. Curious what r/wine thinks: • Which Hermitage Blanc producers do you reach for? • Do you prefer these wines young and vibrant, or with a few years of age? • Any bottles that have really surprised you recently?
