Great last night of work before the holiday break
![]() | Saint comse gigondas: red fruit a little bit on the jammy/baked side. Also a little meaty. Bergstrom: this was a great Pinot, crunchy red fruits a little earthy. Lots of blood orange. Pintia toro 100% Tempranillo: red and black fruits, a little thinner than I expected for a toro, was great nonetheless. Caymus special selection ‘00: this was the first time I’ve had some of my birth year wine which was awesome. The wine itself was honestly very green but after an hour plus in decanter and then 20ish mins in the glass there were some classic cab qualities, black and red currant etc. Vega ‘90: this was definitely my wine of the year. When I opened it I took a quick sip and my first impressions were that it had passed it window. But just like Christ the Vega came back. After 20 mins in the decanter it was great. It was so light in the glass, had a large throw of sediment too. Still fresh fruit, a little floral, and the acidity was absolutely vibrant. Langoa Barton ‘17: my first st. Julien, and this one was a little underwhelming. A little muted. This was also the one we opened after the Vega so maybe it’s just recency bias. [link] [comments] |
