Pizza and morellino
| Pizza and sangiovese, i've had this combo on the island of Ios, Greece. I was sitting with my gf in front of milopota beach, sun was getting 40oC, the Napolitan style pizza arrived rather hot but the bulk sangiovese chilled. Oh boy, it tasted so good. Since then, whenever I make a pizza I also buy some cheap sangiovese to pair it with. I was in the supermarket, saw that 2014 Cerca Trova at 6.5€. Didn't have high expectations but turned out everyone enjoyed it. On the nose, cigar box and leather, some earth, a hint of red fruits. On the palate, rather flat, a funky taste towards wild yeast. Medium on acid and soft tannins. Rounded with some Merlot contrary to what the trend is. If I am not mistaken Maremma is abandoning the blending of BDX varietals into their wines. Homemade pizza with passata, parmigianno, black forrest ham, bufalina al tartufo and basil. [link] [comments] |
