Thanksgiving wines

Here is my delayed post from Thanksgiving here in the United States, celebrated last week. A great celebration of family, friends, and a reminder that there is much in life to be thankful for. I prepared a traditional meal of turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberries, and green beans. Plus a few appetizers and salads to make the feast complete. Last year I came to the belief that Silvaner would be uniquely qualified to pair with the plethora of flavors in the table and I am to report that I was right!

2022 Keller Westhofen Sylvaner trocken Herbaceous and mineral with zippy fruit. This was delicious and provided enough of what you need with a meal of this kind. Fresh acidity, phenolic grip to add a sense of presence, and tons of limestone infused minerality to give depth. A perfect companion to bridge the gap and connect the broad spectrum of flavors on the table. Silvaner will for now on be a part of my thanksgiving meal.

2022 Kilburg Ohligsberg Pinot Noir What a beautiful and elegant expression of Pinot Noir! So beautifully fine and delicious. Crushed red raspberries, pomegranate, and a beguiling crystalline minerality. Like red Riesling this was incredibly transparent and fresh. Wonderful purity and great with the food!
