2017 Armand Rousseau Clos St-Jacques
| Sous bois and beautiful fruit! So harmonious with perfect cherries, florals, and spice. When critics write of perfume this is perfume! The oak present is flawlessly balanced. The nose has exceptional depth and complexity. No shutdown period here - the wine jumps out of the glass. I’m in a love-affair with Gevrey-Chambertin and this wine lives up to all the ideals of this terroir in my head. Light as air on the palate, creamy but not dense, and with an intensity that defies the mouthfeel. The palate mirrors the nose with beautifully elegant tannins. The elegance of this wine is overwhelming. There are so many more notes in here, but the wine was so delicious I almost felt it a waste to try and analyze each thing. I just wanted to live with it and really soak in the moment. I’ve had a lot of lackluster experiences in life for the same amount of money - this was not one of those times. [link] [comments] |
