Old champagne, the only thing I want to drink anymore.

Had the great pleasure of pouring these for some customers a few weeks back. This is my second bottle of 96’ VC LGD and I am a convert. This has aged so gracefully and really is strutting it’s stuff, a kaleidoscope of flavors ranging from fresh fruit to sherry (in the best way possible) this is drinking at peak form and will continue to drink nicely for atleast a few more years.

The biggest surprise was the 88’ Belle Époque rose, this was oxidative but the acidity maintained its freshness, wilted rose petal, autumn leaves, blood orange, burnt sugar. This to me showed more character and I found it to be more charming than the VC. While the VC was in peak form I just found the BE so interesting.

I love mature bordeaux, burgundy in all forms, Old German riesling, etc. however vintage champagne has cemented a spot in my heart that my wallet is very upset about.
