| Blind tasting with two friends. Clos des Papes white 2012 Burgundian on the nose but the palate ruled out Chardonnay. Big, complex, apricot, white melon, waxy but not much acidity at all. As it evolved the nose developed some petrol and moved away from the initial burgundian similarity. Good wine, would go well with food with some acidity. Jean Stodden Rosenthal GG 2019 Ripe red fruit, oak, quite mineral. vibrant acidity. Juicy and young still; Could have aged a lot longer. Initial guesses were PN from a hotter climate than Germany. Good QPR Angerville Volnay Clos des Ducs 2014 Showing more age than the stodden. Tannins silky smooth, especially after some time in the glass. Red fruit, some pepper, a little oak. Great wine -Pignan 2012 Mistaken for an aged Nebbiolo at first with grenache being second guess due to notes of green bell pepper. The highest flavour intensity in the lineup. Sweet, ripe strawberries with herbs de Provence. Less acidity than the Pinots. Light and elegant despite high alcohol. WOTN even though I general prefer a bit more acidity. submitted by /u/ChrisCrat to r/wine [link] [comments] |
