| Decided to pop this yesterday, perhaps not your typical turkey day wine but it really was quite lovely. The nose was vibrant with cedar, dark chocolate, plums, raisins, blackberry, and lavender. Let it breathe for about 90 minutes before dinner. On the palate was more cedar, chocolate, fresh and stewed blackberries with a nuttiness I couldn’t quite place… possibly mild umami, or crushed walnuts? The finish was a bit shorter than expected given how full and well rounded the palate was, but still very nice with an exceptional velvety mouthfeel. Overall a very good bottle, a bit past its prime but showed well and is still drinking beautifully. [link] [comments] |
