Really Unpleasant Aged Wine

Really Unpleasant Aged Wine

Gattinara 1961

Nose: fresh black leather, bubblegum, cow manure, cough syrup.

Palate: cranberry, cherry, manure, potted soil.

Honestly disappointing, too manure-y. What is the story of this wine? Barely showing signs of age or browning of the color. Really intense rotting soil / cow manure taste made it an unpleasant experience.

Crazy that this was $55/glass… what am I missing? Is there a story behind this?
