Garnet core with thick, rust-brown rim.

On initial opening and breathing, the nose is a complex of cocoa, chocolate, mushrooms, and graphite. The palate is of rosemary and dried fig. This feels like an austere, straight-backed, was-your-grandfather’s kind of wine.

As it proceeds to open and loosen, the nose melts into a dominant caramel. The rosemary rises to the nose as well, bringing with it scents of the forest, mainly pine needles. The mouthfeel turns sticky and erotic, leaving you with a finish like an open-mouthed kiss.

Extraordinary how it transforms. Goes from suit-and-tie to naked in a matter of a couple hours. Would give it 94 points.

Not sure how much life is left in it, but this Sangiovese grosso seems to be in its prime right now. Would definitely recommend!
