2016 Chateau Coutelin Merville St Estephe

50% Merlot, 40% Cab Sauv, 5% Cab Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot

Nice bright fruit on the nose. Some cherry. Little bit closed right off the bat. Aerating it brings out a bit more fruit. Jammy Plum smell and raspberry. Floral notes poke through a bit as well.

Medium full body. Nice velvety tannins (I feel like every time I have a St Estephe I taste "velvety tannins lol).

Slightest hint of some tertiary notes coming through. Mushroom maybe? Tobacco leaves a bit. Damp forest floor.

Delightful wine paired with fresh baked sourdough bread and beef stew.
