Great wine. At 30€ not cheap but still good value. Strong butter almond nose, persisting but later giving way to clean swimming and late summer herbs de Provence. Little of the bitter almond on the palate. Instead very well-defined acidity and tight tannins (could probably age another 10 years). The herbs come through on the palate with echoes of gingerbread, faint leather. There was something else, very well-defined, clear, and pleasant, if a slight tad domineering, that I can't put my finger on; perhaps sloe? All in all, a bold Burgundy-style PN. Had their simple Pinot Noir the other day, which was less aromatic and more traditional, leathery Burgundy. Steinmetz is really doing it for me lately.
