Almost 2 months ago I asked about help with a severe eye wound that left my old silkie Henrietta without her eyelid or eye. Didn’t get many recommendations since I couldn’t take her to the vet, but I’m here to report back that she is doing fantastic! The biiiig scab popped off with her sclera ring and revealed an almost completely healed wound! Highly recommend using Blu-Kote especially if there isn’t any skin to stitch closed. We were able to clean it out and disinfect it immediately and put blu kote on it. We moisturized it every day with neosporin, monitored for infection, and syringe fed her for a week straight. She started to pur right after I fed her every time ???? if yall have a beloved chicken that gets hurt and you find them right after it happens, don’t give up. There is hope they will heal!
