Advice on dying this bracer black...

Hey all got this lovely ElMarques bracer for a Larp character who died.

I love it so much I want to use it for a new character but since I like to be as new as possible I want to dye it black along with a belt I have.

What's the process?

Do I need to "strip" it first?
