Gelber Englischer Custard: The only summer squash I'll ever grow again…
| It is the creamiest, least watery squash I've ever had. The leaf/vine/bushing habit of this plant allows a lot of airflow underneath where the squash are growing. I currently have squash bugs on all variety of summer squash I'm growing, except all 5 plants of this variety, I assume because they have less cover to hide. It produces slightly less than the others in quantity, but ends up harvesting more because each fruit has the space to fully develop. My other patty pans and desi are almost impossible to harvest without damaging because of how densely they grow. Lastly, they are GORGEOUS. Almost too pretty to sink a knife into. Needed to give this summer squash a shout out. ???? [link] [comments] |
