I purchased this shoulder piece of Minerva Box from an online supplier. Is that discolouration at the top of the photo normal in the leather crafting world or have I been sent a below standard piece of leather? The description online calls the quality of the leather as “Excellent - 1° Grade”

I am making a tote bag and I can’t avoid using that section of leather.
