I watch chickens on Sundays for someone and I’m in California where we are having a few fires. I found out today that their owner was unable to evacuate them as the fire was too big. I am heartbroken. I’d been watching them for 2.5 years. I helped socialize 3 of them when they were just pullets. They were like my part time babies. All I would do is let them out to run for an hour and a half and rake their coop. I used to have chickens and started doing this after mine died (old age/illnesses) since we weren’t getting anymore. This feels like the end of a wonderful era and I miss them terribly. This Sunday I was able to get this rare pic of them all together and it’s the last one I have of them.
