Poor baby got stuck in a big glue stick fly trap in the shop. I am so upset with myself I thought I had removed all of them after we had our first non bug casualty, but apparently I missed one. Got him unstuck with oil and gave a very lite rinse with diluted dawn but he clearly needed to rest. He is standing up now in the box that is back in the shop below what I believe is his nest. He is much more awake, head up and bright eyes. I put some mashed fruit and wet duck food in there just in case. Mom is very upset and has come in and out of the shop but I don’t know if she sees him and am trying to keep my distance. So here are my questions: He is still quite oily. Do I need to give him another dawn bath? Should I try to put him IN the nest, clearly he could fly at the time of getting stuck and it’s pretty high up. I would definitely disturb the others if there are any. Any idea how old he is or if he can eat on his own? When do I give up on mom and reluctantly intervene?
