How to remove a pencil line?
| Help! I used a #6 pencil very lightly on wet vegtan leather to make two alignment lines for lettering. I tried erasing it when damp but that appeared to be affecting the finish so stopped. Now that I carved the entire piece and it's completely dried, it won't erase. How to remove or hide? I've used pencil on dry leather before then erase without issue, but this was my first time for wet. (It is not a burnish, it's a pencil line). If this happened to you, will dying then antique hide it? Acetone? Oxalyc acid? Secondary, how do I avoid this in the future - I need to trace the pattern on cased leather first before aligning the letters and tracing them. (P.s., Hayes is a friend. Pattern by Chan Geer.)
