Hi guys! I’m very new to leathercraft and have been very excited learning about tools and what each of them do. I’m at the stage of learning about pricking irons and I am at a lost in which size to buy and which thread size would fit the best. There are so many!

When it comes to future leather projects I would say I am more into the rugged looks of things or thicker size threads :).

I have a lost dutchman leather wallet and I really love the thickness of the thread that they use. Can you guys tell just by the photo which pricking irons size+shape and thread size was used for the wallet? I would love to use a similar size for when I get started with projects maybe mostly wallets. Is it a 4mm with 0.6 thread?

I was wondering if any of you could guide me to which pricking irons and thread size I should use? and where to buy from/ which brands do you guys recommend ?

Do you guys also recommend diamond/french/round pricking irons? and why?
