Topeka High School, Topeka, KS, 1931

Main entry and bell tower of Topeka High School. Designed by architect Thomas W. Williamson, the Gothic-style building is situated just a few blocks west of the state capitol and downtown Topeka. The school is one of the first (some say the first) west of the Mississippi River to cost a million dollars (about 21 mil today) to build, and still serves its intended purpose today.

Silly urban legend time. One of Topeka High's local rivals is Seaman High School. Legend has it that a newspaper headline after a Topeka High Trojans' victory over the Seaman High Vikings read "Trojans hold back Seamen". Har har.

ETA: sorry if there's no thumbnail, my bad.
