| As the mercury plunges into negative digits, ice fog swirls through the crisp prairie air, illuminated by the headlight glow of GE B40-8 578 as it eases a dozen or so storage cars onto the elevator track at Consul, Saskatchewan, on November 25th, 2025. With eleven hours and 180 miles behind them since departing Assiniboia, it has been a long run for the crew, marking the first of three days serving the far reaches of the Great Western Railway along the Altawan and Notukeu Subdivisions.
