First ever try with a beginner kit, and I made a fundamental mistake

I have loved doing cross stitching, but only at a beginner level. I thought I'd try my hand at a beginner Van Gogh embroidery kit.

I thought that using using two strands from the floss was just a standard default. I had never considered using the entire floss as something I COULD do, I just got started.

I am definitely going to finish this, and I will love it for the floss flaws, but I am a teeny bit discouraged at how darn long this is going to take. I thought the tower turned out so well, but then once I began the sky.....

Ahhhh, beans. Does anyone have any advice for a rookie?

I have been a lurker here for quite a while, and I just gotta say that all of y'all make flowers grow and I adore you!

Sorry about the awful picture quality, my phone is very old!
