A Gift for my Mom
| I'm still very new to embroidery. This is my fourth completed project, and it's the most complex piece I've done so far. For the "foliage", I wanted something a little more abstract than realistic and I think I accomplished that just fine. The leaves are stump work (my first time trying it and I loved it). The ossicones are covered in beads, although even the smallest beads I have ended up being a little too big in my opinion. The moss is where I cheated a little bit. I bought fake moss and just sewed it in with a similarly colored thread. The pattern for the giraffe was just some cute clip-art looking image I found on Google. I'm not incredibly happy with how the face turned out, because it looks a little wonky to me (my fault, not the pattern's), but I've never embroidered an animal before so I'll accept it. Will be gifting to my mom, a lover of giraffes, for Christmas. I'm very excited! [link] [comments] |
