It isn’t the best brioche scarf, and it’s riddled with beginner mistak…
| So I started knitting around even COVID started; I got frustrated, switched to crochet for years, then for some reason 3 months ago I got the itch to return to knitting. I’m going to visit my brother in a few weeks, and where he lives it’s super cold. So I chose to challenge myself. WEW LAD. I have a love-hate relationship with this scarf. I made SO. MANY. MISTAKES. I frogged it SO. MANY. TIMES. I was so desperate to be done with it, so I ended up binding off a little bit earlier in length that I wanted to—it’s as long as I am tall! Honestly by the time I had bound off the project, I had made so many mistakes that I was tempted to never wear it. It has a few holes I could never figure out how to fix. The sides are all wobbly. Some of the ribs don’t align. It took me 3 months because of both uni and severe mental health issues. But then I wore it! And noticed none of those mistakes were noticeable! I almost cried lol. After some reflection, I learned: to gain some speed as a knitter; how to fix lots of mistakes; how to increase in brioche; to finish what I start; to both trust and enjoy the process; to learn when to take a break from a project; how to sit with discomfort and frustration; and that I really love knitting and it has a very large therapeutic effect on me. After finishing this, I want to knit everything! This isn’t groundbreaking, I know, but to me this means a lot. I’m now challenging myself to knit a project in the round on circulars, a beanie from Nimble Needles! Thanks for reading this far. I just wanted to share my tiny bit of joy :) [link] [comments] |
