[CHAT] First Colorfast Fail, maybe material + color?
| Had my first colorfast hand dyed fabric fail in 30 years. I used a couple materials new to me and a new color. I'm wondering if anyone else has experience with that color or material being more prone to dye fails? I've never used the thicker cotton rather than DMC. And I don't typically work on pinks, but I know red dye can be troublesome in general. I did not see dye run in a bright white sink or using a cream towel to blot, so it seems like a minor amount over a long air-drying time. The material is evenweave, very light red from Garibaldi fabrics. First time using their fabric. The design is Just Nan Amethyst Snowflake. The white thread is DMC cotton size 8. I realize some people here do not wash, but, please don't turn this thread into an I Told Everyone So fest. [link] [comments] |
