Drafted this in Microsoft Excel based on Stardew valley sprites of my husband and I, modified Stardew Valley cat sprites, and our rats and chinchilla based on various pixel art I saw online. I've hidden our surname at the bottom for privacy.

This was the first piece I've done in years so I can definitely see where I've made mistakes, mostly switching cross direction, but I'm so happy it's finished and ready to frame. Definitely never doing a solid full coverage background again as I was bored to tears filling it in at the end. Next time I'd experiment with dying or painting the Aida.

On 14 count white Aida with DMC threads. Shout out to my mum for letting me raid her stash for a metre of a bunch of colours where I only needed a few stitches so didn't want to buy all 40 or so colours I put in the pattern before I thought about the practical side.
