Ravelry Searching Powers and Kind People
| This yarn has a bit of a star-crossed history. I bought it while visiting my brother in 2019. It is a cotton tube yarn that claims to be bulky weight (Berroco Estiva). I loved the gradient and found a pattern that seemed like it would show it off. The original pattern was Leigh Tee. I made tragic errors. The original was designed with wool yarn and 7.5 inches of positive ease. That seemed giant to me, so chose a size with less ease with a yarn with less give. My actual gauge was also off compared to the pattern. My resulting shirt was wearable, but uncomfortable. It was too snug for my liking, too short, and the sleeves cut in on my arms. After a couple of years, I decided to frog and reknit in a larger size. The larger size fit like a feed sack. I hated it. This led me to the search by gauge feature on Ravelry. I also filtered for cotton yarn. I found this gorgeous all over (lace?) pattern (Mangrove Tee). Gauge was spot on. I began to knit away... until I ran out of yarn. Back to Ravelry to look for anyone with this colorway and dye lot for a discontinued yarn. In all of Ravelry, there was one person who had the yarn in same color with the same dye lot. I sent a message and got a response. The very nice person agreed to sell their ball of yarn. The extra yarn allowed me to finish the neckline. I love the finished product! [link] [comments] |
